Cybernovr Offers Scholarships for Cybersecurity Training

Cybernovr has announced a 100 per cent scholarship programme for learners seeking cybersecurity knowledge and practical skills through its Cybersecurity Education & Awareness Programme (CEAP). The nine-week programme, in commemoration of Nigeria's 66th independence anniversary, features live instructor-led sessions, access to the Cybernovr Mobile LMS, a hands-on capstone project and a certificate of completion across 12 modules including identity management, cyber threat awareness, ethical hacking and coding.

Court Grants ₦150m Bail to Alleged Hacker Accused of ₦800m SunTrust Bank Cyber Fraud

The Federal High Court in Lagos has granted bail to Ugochukwu Eze, 47 (also known as "Amazon"), who is standing trial over allegations that he hacked into SunTrust Bank Plc's computer server and diverted more than ₦800 million belonging to the bank. The Department of State Services (DSS) charged Eze on August 6, 2026, with conspiracy, cyber-fraud, unlawful access to critical financial infrastructure, and money laundering. Justice Friday Ogazi granted bail in the sum of ₦150 million with two sureties in like sum, and ordered Eze to surrender his passport pending trial.

Police Arrest 31-Year-Old Man Over Alleged Cyberbullying of Traditional Ruler in Adamawa

The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested Buriba Israel, 31, of Jambutu, Yola South, over allegations that he used social media to circulate posts containing accusations against Daniel Samaila, holder of the Hamman Bachama first-class chieftaincy stool of the Numan Federation. Police described the posts as offensive and damaging to the traditional ruler's reputation and dignity. Following a formal complaint, detectives launched an investigation, arrested the suspect, and recovered electronic devices now undergoing forensic examination.

Spyware and data-stealing malware surged across Africa, prompting most regional SMBs to increase cybersecurity budgets.
